The Federal Skilled Worker Program is for individuals who qualify as a Skilled Worker. These are individuals who have met the detailed requirements of the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). These selected individuals can apply directly for a Canadian Permanent Residence. To be eligible both education, work experience and knowledge of English and/or French are taken into consideration. This program is for individuals who have a valid job offer or have a certification to work in any occupation on the list under the Federal Skilled Trades Program. These selected individuals can immigrate to Canada on a permanent basis and obtain permanent resident status in Canada. The purpose of the program is to meet the demands of the Canadian workforce and they are individuals with a specific skill set.
This application is for individuals who have had prior experience within the Canadian system either as a foreign worker or foreign student. Successful candidate in this class are seen to have skills that makes them relevant to the Canadian economy. These candidates would also pass through the express entry selection process.
Express Entry (EE) system is a ranking and selected based process used by the Canadian government to identify and select skilled immigrants to become permanent residents of Canada. The process is initiated by entering a pool where eligible candidates that meet the Canadian Express Entry requirements are selected based on their ranking score to participate in the express entry program. This is seen as one of the most popular and used route to attain a Permanent Residence in Canada.
This program allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate eligible candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in a province. Province and territories within Canada (except Nunavut and Quebec) have a unique program that is aligned to bring immigrants into Canada. It is important to note that these programs are linked with the Federal Skilled Workers program. Upon selection, candidates are issued additional 600 points to enhance their possibility of being selected from the express entry pool.
